Advancements in Imaging Techniques for Detecting Cerebral Infarction

Hassan Moradi

Cerebral infarction, or ischemic stroke, is a critical medical condition characterized by the interruption of blood flow to a specific region of the brain. Timely and accurate diagnosis is paramount for effective intervention and improved patient outcomes. This article explores the significant advancements in medical imaging techniques that have revolutionized the detection of cerebral infarction. Traditional methods such as computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging have been complemented and surpassed by techniques like diffusion-weighted imaging, perfusionweighted imaging, CT perfusion imaging, computed tomography angiography, magnetic resonance angiography, and multimodal imaging. These innovative approaches enable early detection, precise localization, and comprehensive assessment of cerebral infarctions, guiding clinicians in making informed treatment decisions. This article highlights the benefits of these advancements in terms of improving early diagnosis, treatment efficacy, and patient care.
